Seeking the Connetions: Alcoholism and our Genes Summary
Have you ever wondered why alcoholism seems to run in families? The answers to these question lies in our DNA. According to recent studies certain genes can make your risk of becoming an alcoholic higher than it would be. So what dose this mean for you? Well, it doesn't mean that just because you have a family history of addiction that you will become addicted it means that you are more vulnerable but as long as you make good choices you should be fine. An example of this is a gene that is more common in of people of Asian descent make it so that it is harder for them to absorb alcohol.
I personally think that the article is very interesting.The main reason that I think that the article is interesting is because my family on my moms side has a history of addiction so it makes me wonder what genes are influencing this trend.
